"Deflation IS a concern of the fed also"

It's difficult to know what they're saying, because they are deliberately obscure, saying contradictory things on alternate days. I guess that lets them keep their options open. However, my understanding is the Board is leaning toward tightening, and consider inflation (not deflation or recession) the main future threat. They are also worried about an asset bubble in the U.S., like what happened in Japan, which is why Greenspan has repeatedly tried to talk the market down. Although recent events make it unlikely they will do anything at all soon, they have clearly indicated that at the first sign of accelerating wage inflation they will raise interest rates. I think that would be a mistake, as I don't think that wage inflation is going to translate into price inflation.

What has the Fed said about deflation recently?
