What the hell is Robert E Lee doing in EMANCIPATION park anyway?

This is like putting up a statue honoring John Wilkes Booth in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Or a statue of of Benedict Arnold in front of Independence Hall in Pennsylvania.

I've never given any thought to Confederate monuments before but I have now and I'm realizing they're literally monuments to traitors.

As far as I'm concerned, they can tear them down, melt them down or grind them to dust. Cast the slag or dust into sea.

Robert E. Lee was a traitor just like Benedict Arnold was.

The Confederacy was a part of American history? So what? John Wilkes Booth and Benedict Arnold were part of our history too. Doesn't mean we should honor them as heroes. Where are their monuments?

Statues to Lee should never have been erected. A generic monument honoring the dead on either side in a cemetery is one thing, but pretending traitors were honorable men is no good.

Shame on Trump and his scurrilous followers who compare villains like Lee to the founding fathers.

Washington led a rebel army to CREATE the US. Lee led a rebel army to tear it apart. Very different.
