Does netscape run as well as ie on win 98? You earlier said that ie had access to windows apis that netscape doesn't. That prevents netscape from competing in the areas where access to those apis is needed.

Well, I don't think Netscape runs as well as IE on Windows95, so comparing it on Windows98 is somewhat useless.

That said, there is nothing in Windows98 that prevents Netscape from doing anything. You can take an existing version of Netscape and it will run fine on Windows98. It's current functionality is not impeded or lessened in any way.

To tell you the truth, I don't know what functionality Netscape would like to add in the future. There may be things that IE can do that Netscape can't do because IE has OS hooks, but I don't know. I'm not sure what is exposed and what's not. I can't think of anything that IE is doing that Navigator couldn't also do.
