Chic,

How quickly everyone forgets. During the 1992 election, the nation and the Fed were in a huge panic over growth of the national debt. Ross Perot was threatening $0.40 per gallon gas taxes just to stabilize the deficit.

During the Reagan administration, the National debt grew from $1,000,000,000,000 to almost $5,000,000,000,000. His own budget director, David Stockman, warned him that his tax cuts would blow the deficit through the ceiling.

Clinton and Gingrich both had a great deal to do with balancing the budget. The analysts are just as dumb about the economy as they are about stocks.
