Calvin, re >Compaq Computer Corp. is ready to launch a configure-to-order (CTO) pilot program < Gee, everybody from 5ver to the Burke-ites have been saying that CPQ is already eating Dell's lunch in the direct market. According to this article they haven't even got their pilot program running yet. Last time I checked CPQs website (last December) I was told to call an 800 number to find the "RETAILER" nearest me. Now that is DIRECT...not.
