Since when can money buy time?

Money can buy you resources - people, fabs, equipment. Intel can (theoretically) have more than one team working on a problem in parallel, and if one hits the wall, the other may have a workable solution.

But as Scumbria said, Intel management seems to be too arrogant to plan for such contingency. Intel could have a team working on a BX successor, on PC-133, DDR, alternative server chipsets.

It will be interesting when Intel finds out that this lucrative web hosting business they are getting into is really turning into a commodity business with increasing price competition.
