Lalith's post may be on target. Matthew Shapiro indicated yesterday that Ascend had cut prices on some products so that could have been a response to Microcom OR depending on when Microcom cut their prices, maybe ASND was the reason Microcom cut theirs. At this point who knows? But volume was huge by ordinary standards. Only 4 times in the past 6 months has it exceeded 4 million shares; more typically it hovers around 2 MM +/-. But then NASDAQ was down significantly today as was the Dow - although ASND's hit was larger %-wise than CSCO's. Bottom line - it's hard to figure; maybe the rumor about being 15% under the Street's estimates for Q2 has something to do with it. I don't give credence to that anymore than I did the unsupported rumor that they stopped shipping product on 3/1 because they had their Q1 numbers already made! Dee Jay
