Help-OneDrive!

I have been using Onedrive for a while, without paying too much attention to the procedures, on a Lenovo T440s laptop, WIN10, and an Office 365 subscription.

I deal with a lot of photos, and docs, and a big memory hog app--xactimate 28, and have noticed significant slow response and then checked disk space and noticed 203gb used with 17 remaining. So I was going to drag a bunch of old stuff I do not currently need to a 1tb Passport Ultra remote drive. I have a couple of them. However, now I am unable to do so due to some onedrive change. The files which should be resident on my laptop and also synced to the onedrive cloud, do not copy to the remote drive. Each time I get an error or a stalled activity.

I just checked the file location and note that apparently the files have the same path now whether showing under the Onedrive folder tree or from This PC!

Anyone got a suggestion? My presumption was that although Onedrive was syncing files to storage in their cloud, that the resident original files on the laptop would remain and would behave as prior to Onedrive. Apparently not.
