Nokia brings folders to Windows Phone with its Lumia Black rollout
By Tom Warren on January 9, 2014 01:57 pm

Nokia is once again extending and improving Windows Phone. While Microsoft has implemented Live Tiles across Windows Phone, Nokia is adding a new App Folder interface that allows Windows Phone users to stack apps and settings into a folder Tile on the Start Screen. The new feature is part of Nokia’s Lumia Black software that is being rolled out to Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925 devices today. Other Lumia models will be updated "in the coming weeks" according to Nokia.

Nokia’s Lumia Black software also includes Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 Update 3 with rotation lock, custom tones for messages, emails, and reminders, and a new Driving Mode feature that’s designed to limit notifications while you’re driving. Multitasking improvements, including the ability to close apps, are also included. Nokia is also adding a new steps feature that measures the number of steps you’re taking with your phone and displays them on the Glance screen. Bluetooth 4.0 support and improvements to the Nokia Camera, including RAW support for the Lumia 1020 and 1520, is also included with Lumia Black.

Update: Nokia's App Folder application is now available from the Windows Phone Store.
