Umm Jerry, I referenced Bill Gates' speech in my post, which implies that my comments stemmed from his. Not my fault, though...I'm just learning C++ right now, and so I have no technical merit to judge which language is "better" to engineer with (assuming equal performance). You probably have less technical knowledge than me, so you can't pretend to know either. Anyway, I was only speaking of Java as a language, not a platform. I didn't say that Java will not be successful as a platform or anything like that. I was focusing on the merits of the languages themselves: Java vs. C++.
