Speaking of hysterics kicking in, I guess I got sent to the back of the class on that one, re "Let's be Michelle's children".
That paragraph was intended to be provocative, but more than that it was supposed to point the mind towards alternatives to the hypothetical senario. Now I have to ask, if my made-up senario was so terrible and insulting, then how does that "family values crappola" fit in here?
I firmly believe that children, particularly when young, want and need attention and time from their parents. Nowdays that isn't always what happens, such as with your parents. That's neat that your mother was Dr. Shumway's head nurse, , and that's great that you don't resent it, but tell me: Given your druthers, would you rather have been near your mother more, when you were young? I'm not saying you should feel resentful now, but I'd bet you many times wish your mother would have been home with you instead of being on the road.
I'm not asking you to admit or deny anything with respect to your real childhood: It's none of my business. But I believe, and will continue to believe, that small children are best served with parents who are there as much as possible for them. |
