Specifically we are looking at Bank of America, which with a forecast surge in Earnings from ($2.5) billion to $10 billion

They earned $21B and $15B in '06 and '07 respectively, so $10B isn't entirely out of the question. I rather doubt it, but the analysts probably know better than me. Unless you think the analysts are a part of the conspiracy?
