Ron:

Who do you think is selling those 20 mil shares? Speculators or
long-term investors?

Also, there are many other companies that are global, and suck!
E.g., Sunbeam.

The following also matter:

- For value investing, there got to be "value" first. Cendant is
a marketing company. Now it will be run by accountants. Talent will
exit the doors. BTW, the book is < $4

- When earnings are reduced, so is the *growth rate*. And, so will
be the *multiple*.

- You got to pay premium for safety. Its a personal investment
style. Many folks actually *made* money with <IDID> even though
the company, er, suffered.

- There are no "minor" accounting problems. A company this size
has enough suspense accounts for problems of a few million kind.
Nor does a typical board take sides over "minor" problems that
a chief overlooked. This is a killer.

Don't get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with speculation - no
one has seen the future.
Just don't tout it as "value investment". ALSO, I generally
do not like the perrenial "averaging-down" kinds of investments.

Regards
Dinesh
