About the best information I have been able to find is this posting over at Yahoo! It still does not provide me with enough justification for this price and volume increase:

12:38 NTAP Network Appliance: Adams Harkness discusses NTAP strength (33.35 +2.91) -Update-

Adams Harkness notes that NTAP made a significant move over the last two days. Although the co presented at an investor conference yesterday, firm does not believe this is the source of the strength, as neither the CEO nor CFO presented. Firm believes the strength may be a combination of a number of factors: 1) IBM posts its Dec results Jan 17, and a fairly strong posting might be anticipated to reflect well on NTAP (NTAP and IBM are in the early stages of ramping an OEM relationship), 2) XRTX reported very strong results Jan 5 and also presented this morning at the investor conference (60% of XRTX's business has traditionally been derived from NTAP), and 3) Yesterday, People's Bank announced it had lost a computer tape with the personal information of 90k customers on it, which is another glaring example of why data should be encrypted before it is put on tape.
