Ron,
I rec. your post--a few years ago, after struggling with one issue after another with the gosh awful Windows Media Player--a very helpful person suggested the same thing--"Just install VLC!" I did--haven't had a problem of any kind since. The thing JUST WORKS!! Super program for my needs.
