That's one option but there's an infinite array of possibilities. <We all know how this story is going to end (glowing rubble heaps in various Muslim capitals)... The question is when and how it is triggered.. > Let's not get into self-fulfilling prophecies.

There seems to be no point in negotiating much at all with people who are interested only in totalitarian conquest of all infidels and especially Jews.

Islamic jihad made great strides across the planet when totalitarian kingdom dynasties ruled everywhere, because the people at the bottom of the heap were happy enough to join an ideology which freed them from the yoke of serfdom at best. But with the advent of democracy, free enterprise and the Virtuous Victorian Values of the Enlightenment, the more or less free world got up a literal head of steam and took over huge swathes of the world.

Jihad has nothing to offer other than a replacement for religious idolatory which has fallen by the wayside in many countries. But their religious premises are of poor quality at best, unfit for the modern world. Perhaps like the free world, Islamic mania will fizzle out in a generation or two. 100 years ago, Christianity was still powerfully gripping the so-called free world. But it's a pale shadow of its former power.

While their terrorism around the world is annoying and fatal in many instances, it's trivial in totality. Barely worse than Ebola. They can't succeed and will fizzle out as their oil riches dwindle and are replaced.
