I dissagree. The K6 line is fine. It just wouldn't scale and yield as well as a P6 core. The FPU was weaker and Intel was hyping that to the hilt.
The whole thing turned around when AMD built a chip based on "MHz sells" (TM-McMannis) and a strong FPU.
Now all Intel can do is hype and grovel until Willy.
