My point is, had we left with the old Standard Oil, we still have Shell.

Keep in mind that a body (or a company) can only be so efficient to certain point. Once it has exceeded, it will no longer be effective. Take a look at our government, it is too big and no one really know who to report to. There are too many redundants. Standard Oil would have broken up eventually without the government in the form of spinoff.

Microsoft freed us from the overpriced Apples (hardwares and softwares), who is the true monopoly.
