Funny how righties don't have a clue when the numbers are being rigged. You guys are like Bush and torture. You think that by redefining it that nobody will realize the truth. The truth is that nowadays the official numbers such as CPI and GDP are so massaged that they don't have the same connection with reality that they used to before all of the massaging became prominent. CPI is understated because it saves the government millions or billions of dollars annually to understate it. Hedonics, substitution effect etc etc are all different ways to lie to the public. If they were interested in the truth they would still publish the numbers as they used to be calculated and let the consumer of information decide which more correctly represents the truth. But no they don't allow the consumer of information to have that choice.
