Interesting that they describe the geology so precisely. Only thing missing is how thick is the mineralized zone ... and of course the grade :) But the found it !
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 12, 2010) - Riverstone Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:RVS - News; FRANKFURT:3RV - News) is pleased to provide an update on the drilling program currently underway on its Karma gold project in Burkina Faso, West Africa. A program comprising 9,000 metres of RC drilling in approximately 70 holes commenced on March 15, 2010 and to date, 22 holes have been completed on the Nami site. An initial 3,000 metres will be drilled at the Nami site and the rig will then be mobilized to the Company's nearby Rambo and Goulagou gold deposits to drill approx. 2,000 metres of in-fill and step-out drilling. The drill will then be re-mobilized to the Nami site to continue the RC drilling program. A contract has been signed for a second drill rig, which is expected to be mobilized to the project by the end of April. The second drill rig will be used for diamond core drilling for deeper testing and for metallurgical and geotechnical work. The first assay results from drilling are expected in a week.
The drilling program is designed to test a breccia body identified during the Company's recent artisanal shaft and waste dump sampling program (see NR dated Feb. 23 and Mar. 16, 2010). The breccia body appears to strike northwesterly, and to dip gently to the southwest. Overlying the breccia is a granodiorite and underlying it is either granodiorite or volcano-sedimentary rocks. Quartz veining is widespread within the breccia body and, to a lesser extent, in the overlying granodiorite.
The recent sampling program collected representative samples from the artisanal shafts and adjacent waste dumps. The waste dumps comprise material left behind by the artisanal miners after hand sorting out the quartz veins. The size of the mineralized footprint, as defined by the 0.3 g/t contour of waste dump results, is 500 metres by 300 metres. The zone is open for extension to the northwest, southwest and southeast. The average of all samples greater than 0.3 g/t is 1.36 g/t gold with a high of 8.6 g/t (see map on Company's website: riverstoneresources.com.
Approximately 200 shafts were sampled during the recent sampling program. Where possible, samples were collected at regular intervals down the shaft. Each sample was logged and sent for assay. Based on the sample descriptions and shaft sample assay results, the most significant gold values are contained within the breccia body, which returned values up to 98 g/t gold. |
