Bush's biggest mistakes have been complacency and insulting the voter's intelligence.

His new message -- "I'm the outsider" -- is just ludicrous. Hey buddy, after you collect the endorsements of 28 governors and 40 senators, it's too late to be an outsider!

Bush needs to present himself as a deal maker -- as opposed to McCain, the maverick loner -- and tell us what deals he plans to make. This might give someone a reason to vote for him irrespective of his pedigree and endorsements.

And he'd better hurry up.
