yes, but in my opinion britain had seen its best days by 1870. prior to that britain had ascended to power under protectionism, but towards the end of the 19th century free trade policies were contributing to the demise of the empire. now we americans are following in the footsteps of our mighty british cousins, and we've long since passed our best days as well.
