Great post regarding the shennanigans of the AOL analysts. The quick answer is no. Hyping overvalued AOL paper is simply too profitable for most of the Wall Street firms.

And why not? Given the ongoing cash flow needs of AOL, Case has to be one of the larger underwriting clients for Wall Street. Any coincidence as to why Steve Case was asked to join the board of the NYSE, along with such notable pirates as Gerald Levin of Time Warner?

Perhaps this is what the SEC is finally concerned about.
