America Online said its members are accessing a record high of one billion Web hits daily, making it the first online service to handle this volume of traffic to the Web. The company also said it's installed TeraPOP, one of the largest Internet traffic exchange points in the world, at facilities in Northern Virginia. AOL (AOL) claims it is now responsible for delivering 40 percent of all household traffic on the Web. The company said TeraPOP provides AOL members with direct access to Internet networks, providing faster access.
