I'm no expert either, but from what the press release stated, it's not unlikely that IBM is getting help from Ampex to achieve the greater density. The press release is somewhat vague as to how they are accomplishing this, but then again, they don't want to reveal too much technical information. IMO, IBM has accomplished the incredible higher density by using the keepered media. I'll read it again and to try to support my optimism.
