BOW VALLEY ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF KENT JESPERSEN AS A DIRECTOR OF THE COMPANY

CALGARY, June 5 /CNW/ - Bow Valley Energy Ltd. is pleased to announce
that, at its Annual General Meeting held on May 29, 1998, Mr. Kent Jespersen
was appointed a director of the Corporation. Mr. Jespersen has served in
various senior management capacities with the NOVA group of companies for many
years and is currently the President of NOVA Gas International Ltd. and Senior
Vice President of NOVA Corporation. Mr. Jespersen serves on the boards of a
number of Canadian and international organizations and corporations and
currently serves as the Chairman of the Institute of the Americas in La Jolla,
California. Bow Valley is pleased to welcome Mr. Jespersen to its board of
directors.
Bow Valley was formed in 1996 to operate as an international oil and gas
acquisition, development and production company headquartered in Calgary,
Alberta. Bow Valley has interests in the United Kingdom (both onshore and
offshore) and has signed a service contract to develop the Balal oilfield
located offshore Iran in the Persian Gulf. Bow Valley trades on the Toronto
Stock Exchange under the symbol BVX.
