Ted, Re: These numbers don't make sense. Wasn't AMD at 16+% of the market in Feb and March? This article says AMD has 1/3 of the market in April but that # is a decline.

The numbers I have collected (from web sources) for AMD retail market share are as follows:

Jan-99 43.9% Jan-00 37%
Feb-99 51.6% Feb-00 42%
Mar-99 45.3%

[Hm. Interesting SI proofing thinks XXX-00 dates may be an error but the XXX-99 ones are ok? I just wish they would add Athlon and other common technical terms to the spelling list as many posts look like a cherry tree when previewed.]

A little spotty but I haven't been collecting for that long and forgot to keep track of sources on other data so haven't included it. I believe this is a hard market to track, the SD shops are probably not included, and the media reporting is often warped as witnessed by conflicting presentation of the actual reports (which are $$$ and I haven't found an inside source yet). The "decline" is certainly in contrast to the observation of what is on the shelf by many posters.
