Wendell, Unreal.......A double exciting day.....and what....the thread goes dead. Let me guess......IDX is now obsolete....passed by. What a bunch of thinkers we have here! Three comanies.....Thompson, Lucent, and Harris say they are a year away from a chip that will take the place of the optical camera or reader......Yes Hal.....to get prints on a card, they must be read first...So....Great! The cost of the Oracle product will drop from $ 400 to $ 200.....God help us , we are in trouble now! Oracle customers won't stand for it. Perhaps Thompson will create a new global marketing force to sell a three dollar chip to Fingerscan customers.......Sell the chips to IDX?......Hell no! That would be like Intel selling their chips to computer makers. I heard that Intel is going to put out a new chip.....What will Gateway do? Become obsolete? Go belly-up? Think about it. Two quotes from Fowler...... 1. The object now is to make them smaller and cheaper......For home PC use.....Under $100..... 2. It's not how you get the print.....but what you can do with it once you have it. All IDX.....Think about what has happened. Fowler is not an idiot....The world is not coming to an end.......And those of you who are shaking in your boots......sell......then buy back when another big banking deal comes in, or IDX signs a deal with one of the three companies with the new chip ( if they have not already done so)......or when we get the TRW contract or the Japan contract. bg ps. Wonder why the stock was not down two or three points today......Hal? pss. Would Intel WANT the market leader in PCs to use their chips? Hmmmmmm. IMO...Alot of you threadsters have this one backwards.
