my understanding (don't quote me on this) is that first and second generation children from parents of euro countries, be it germany, france, spain, italy, etc, can apply for and get a dual citizenship (and passport)....i have not applied yet, though i know of people who have....you have to go to the embassy of the country in question in your home country, in my case, the u.s.....so it is somewhat tedious, (and time consuming) but it can be done....
i have a relative who has been doing ancestry research and she's found some amazing stuff....my family history is the 'sketchiest' since my father ran away at the tender age of 14, but i have some important documents to verify my family heritage should i decide to do so
interesting and fun stuff!
interestingly my new SIL's first wife is german, he has a son in germany and his boy a(who is just darling) will be coming to the u.s. soon....seems like everything is going full circle <gg> |
