Valerie Gold Resources Ltd. Announces Three Independent Directors Appointed

Mr. Frank A. Lang, President, is pleased to announce the appointment of Messrs. John W.W. Hick, Colin A.C. Dobell, and Owen E. Owens to the Board of Directors of Valerie Gold Resources Ltd. effective June 18th, 1997.
Mr. John W.W. Hick is currently a Director of TVX Gold Inc. and a member of the Investors and Issuers Advisory Committee of the Toronto Stock Exchange. Over the past 15 years Mr. Hick has served in various executive positions with a number of senior mining companies, including Vice-Chairman and President of TVX Gold Inc., Senior Vice-President of Placer Dome Inc., and Vice-President, General Counsel and Secretary of the Dome Mines Group of Companies.
Mr. Colin A.C. Dobell is a financial consultant with over 25 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking. Mr. Dobell served as Vice-President and Director of B.C. Investment Banking for Wood Gundy from 1973 to 1990 and has been a Director and member of the executive committee of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.
Mr. Owen E. Owens is a consulting geologist and past Vice-President of Cominco Ltd. who brings more than 35 years of industry-related experience to the Board. During his 35-year association with Cominco, Mr. Owens held the positions of Superintendent of Eastern Canada Exploration, Superintendent and Manager of International Exploration, Vice-President, General Manager and President of Vestgron Mines Ltd.
These three new independent directors bring substantial additional strengths and expertise to the Valerie Board. With their assistance, the Company will be reviewing and assessing the results of exploration and development on its Mamatla project and intends to seek out additional mineral properties of merit in Mexico and elsewhere.
Ms. Ellen Skobin Conville and Mr. Ronald M. Lang have stepped down as directors in order to facilitate the re-structuring of the Valerie Board. Ms. Skobin Conville will remain as Corporate Secretary. The Company extends its appreciation for the contribution of both Ms. Skobin Conville and Mr. Ronald Lang as directors over the past years. |
