Paul...your brother and co-worker are the typical Americans now. Good money coming in but high expenses. It amazes me how people struggle to live off of 50k a year. I am 30 years old and have been a student a good part of my life, so learning to live off of 15-20k a year is easy. It's only been the last 2 years or so that I have really accumulated a lot from the trading. Anyway...I don't think people will be able to cut back so easily because much of those payments are now in the form of debt. And what happens when the only offers you're getting on that 400k house you just bought are in the 300k range? Trouble indeed...To have such control of finances, you and I are a rare breed.
