Just got off the phone with a close friend who works for Intel... he's one of their chip engineers (phd) for the chips that make it to market not next month or even next year, but 2-3 years out. He was telling me that AMD in no way has hurt Intel, but that it REALLY IS THE ECONOMY. Orders for his and ALL companies that work with Intel have slowed incredibly. He was telling me that Intel has a huge cash reserve and is not in dire straights, but he doesn't see any sign in the near future of things turning around and that smaller, cash-hungry co.'s are gonna die. He went as far as saying he doesn't know if SUNW will be around in 2-4 years, due to their current business plan. He also mentioned that Dell is not in the best financial situation. He did not sound positive about tech at allllll. Awwww, what the hell.... short the lot!
