Who messed with Social Security






Q: Which political party put SS trust fund dollars into the general fund so Congress could spend it? A: Democrats

Q: Which political party started taxing SS payments? A: Democratic Party with Al Gore casting the tie-breaking vote.

Q: Which political party decided to start giving SS payments to immigrants? A: Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. They gave these payments to immigrants even though they never paid into the program.

FDR introduced Social Security. Participation was to be voluntary but no longer is.
Back then participants had to pay 1 percent of the first $1,400 of their annual salary. It is now 6.2 percent (temporarily reduced to 4.2 percent) with employers matching that contribution. The money was to be put into a trust fund and only be used to fund Social Security payments. Under Lyndon Johnson the money was moved to the general fund to pay for his Great Society program. The plan was set up so that retirees would never be taxed on Social Security payments. Under Clinton-Gore they changed, so that up to 85 percent of SS can be taxed.

After making all of these violations to the original SS contract the Democrats turn around and tell you that Republicans want to take away your Social Security. And the worst part about it is uninformed senior citizens believe it!
