Rock_nj > people's cities and towns can literally fall apart, their jobs can be shipped overseas, money can be wasted on war and destruction, but as long as the President and party in power caters to their emotial needs to feel moral and religously good, then Americans will vote for them.
That's it, and it's amazing to behold. That chart I posted the other day of the fantastic deficits which the Bush administration has built up on account of their ideological wars and tax cuts says it all -- but the "people" don't know about it and, moreover, don't care. It's as if they have been fed drugs -- which, of course, is true -- religion is the opiate of the masses. Their main concerns are gays, abortion and terrorists -- and bad language on TV. Why they can't just let others get on with their own lives is beyond me, but clearly they see an evangelical purpose in theirs. They actually believe they were put on this earth to bring the word of God to the sinners. And George Bush believes, and he really does believe, he was put here to lead them. We are talking scary stuff here.
> I'm just thinking that the Republicans old religion con game is running out of steam. Bush is polling at 37% in Missourri and 38% in Ohio. Those aren't the kind of numbers you put on the board to win elections
And it must be worrying them, too. That's why I believe they sent W off to ride his bike. The low Bush poll is certainly a new phenomenon and may signify that people are actually waking up. One can only hope so. But whether that means they will now fall into the political trap and vote for the Democrats is something else. For the American people to escape tyranny they have to escape from BOTH political parties. And after that -- who knows? |
