Dmf,<<<we all know Intel is going after Sun's market so it isn't entirely irrelevant. >>>

One big difference is that Scott McNealy can go on Squawk Box or whatever and turn all negatives into positives and Analysts like the Very Light Weight (VLW) Joe Osha wouldn't even know what hit them.

I'm not rooting against SUN - I don't think this is exactly a zero sum game. There's plenty of room for Sun and Scott McNealy to go on preaching about all those devices that eventually has to be connected to a Sun or other make servers.

It is funny to note however, that whenever AMD shows any signs of life whatsoever (Coming back from the dead several times over) the VLW Joe Osha, Drew Peck, et al are all eager to talk about competition, lower ASP, reduced margins, price wars and hell breaking out all over mpu market; however, they never mention or are even are aware that SUN has to face the same issues in the face of HWP, IBM, CPQ, DELL, INTC and if you were to believe the AMDroids, AMD as formidable competition.

I don't think, at least in the case of the VLW Joe Osha, that this is a deliberate and calculated effort to trash Intel. I just don't think the VLW Joe Osha has a clue as to what these markets are all about.
