This case has been dragging on for a long time, and until the Supreme Court rules on it XON will keep appealing the judgement. I believe that when the original judgement was rendered several years back that the stock jumped a few points. This due to the removal of uncertainty. 5 billion, while quite a bit of money is only about $2/share and the I'm near certain that XON has already made allowances for the payment (when and if).

Crude prices have been weak of late which should have affected the share price. I believe that this downward pressure was countered by money flowing into XON, and other DJ30 stocks.

Remember, XON is up over 12 points since the day of the 2:1 split in May, thats almost 25%. I don't even want to calculate/know what the annual rate of return that is.

Hang on to XON, reinvest dividends, buy more on dips, then in 10 years look back and smile knowing how smart you were.
