The mob could not have pulled off the JFK assassination.
Though they could have had a hand in it. They were in no position to control the Dallas Police, FBI and then cover up the crime afterwards. They were also in no position to manipulate Oswald who was some kind of a CIA wacky weird operative. The mob was involved through Jack Ruby and may have also killed the nightclub stripper witness, but the rest of it would have had to involve major federal law enforcement and/or intelligence operatives. So back to Hoover.

Hoover could definitely have joined with the mob to do this. And remember, the mob and the CIA rightwing were both obsessed with taking back Cuba.
