It would be very weird, indeed, if our forefathers were from a different strain than our foremothers, because we all share a common mother about 130,000 to 170,000 years ago.

Here is a map showing the latest state of knowledge about the migration out of Africa. One of the things that surprises me is how recently it was. On the cosmic scale, 130,000 to 170,000 years isn't even a blip.
