Hi All --
First: I remain hopeful for the continued functioning of SI -- there's a tremendous amount of history and great people here that I'd not want to loose.
That said, if you have longed for the return of BM features, you might want to checkout IHub (www.investorshub.com), a collaboration of SI expatriots (well, not really ex as they continue to post on SI as well). Bob Z [formerly SI Admin (Bob)] has been doing wonders tweaking the boards there for user friendly (read that also as user requested) features. For example, in one evening, that's right -- less than a few hours, last night he added a read next 100 posts feature. See the exchange on the Gizzard thread starting at siliconinvestor.com . Another BM type feature, an automatic refresh for favorites, is already implemented.
IHub has free reading and free limited posting for non members on public boards, but membership is not expensive and has a lot of benefits (and kills the ads). How many here have offered to repurchase a BM that worked on SI?
IHub also allows posting of graphics (like charts) within messages, shorthand links to SI messages with a #thread-00001 type of link to SI and #board-00001 link to messages within IHub. see investorshub.com Lots of other features, present in development, or under consideration. A number of prominent SI posters have started to post on IHub as well. The energy is not unlike the SI old days of Brad, Jeff & Jill (and BOB, the 5th Beatle <gg>).
Anyway, don't know if anyone will see this as I killed the bookmark to this thread long ago - but for the forever hopeful, there is hope (and an alternative).
