Kerry sounds arrogant and self-pitying and slightly deranged. If he really believes what he is saying, then his self-pity and wounded pride has trumped his intelligence. Or maybe he just lives in a world where everybody says, "That's a brilliant idea, Senator!" to everything that comes out of his mouth.

Can he possibly, actually believe that the Republican media machine won the election because the media were biased towards Bush? Can anyone? Is it possible that Kerry does not realize how horrible the media could have made his life if only they had deigned to actually read the Swiftvets' book and begun to ask Kerry to release his military records, instead of rushing to his defense ("The Swiftvets are all discredited. Discredited! And they were funded by Republicans. Case closed, Rove sent them.") If, in short they had treated the Swiftvets' charges with the same seriousness as CBS treated Bill Burkett's charges.
