While there was a major reaction to the Pentium chip flaw, there was no real impact on Intel or its dominance in the market.

Why isn't AOL a commodity? What separates it from all the others? Don't tell me it's their online content, I tried it a year ago and it's a joke compared to the Net. The only reason why it is still the largest single ISP is because there are so many other new competitors in the market.

And I'll challenge the assertion that people don't know about the other ISP's. The people who don't, don't have a PC.

Did you see ER last night? Did you notice ATT's "Catch the Wave" commercial? Trust me, they weren't selling surfboards. And I'll bet that you can get through on their 1-800 number.

Finally, AOL has to MAKE money- and have a positive cash flow... two of the prerequisites needed to stay in business.

PS, What do you use for dial-up access?
