As data evolves, recommendations change, as they should. What I do not understand is why such issues must be decided by Washington. It should be a matter of patient education and personal choices.

Government can play a role in organizing a safety net system; there will always be people who will need it. Most of us, however, should have no use for it.

I don't post as much anymore, because basically I keep saying the same thing... -g. To me it's quite clear that despite a few possible advantages GovCare would be a big step in the wrong direction. Just as any socialistic venture, it will prove to be expensive - and ultimately, unsatisfactory.

As you say, it's hard to take things away. By the time healthcare workers become government employees, they'll love their benis and pensions. There will be no going back.

I've seen government subsidized clinics with an overhead of $80 per visit. Not very many primary care docs could survive in business if they allow their overhead to reach 1/2 of this amount.
