Intel and Digital to settle, analyst claims By PC Week Staff 10.21.97 6:00 pm ET An industry analyst released a report on Monday claiming that Intel Corp. and Digital Equipment Corp. could settle their patent litigation dispute as early as Wednesday for $1.6 billion. Analyst Ashok Kumar of Lowenbaum & Co. Inc. in Austin, Texas, said the settlement involves a licensing technology agreement that allows Intel to license Digital's Alpha architecture. As part of the agreement Intel would also assist Digital in developing Alpha-based products. Officials at Digital and Intel declined to comment.
