Auto Parts Retailer to Open Processing Center in West Carrollton, Ohio

WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio, Jun 22, 2004 (Dayton Daily News - Knight Ridder/Tribune
Business News via COMTEX) -- Cincinnati-based Pickups Plus Inc., a retailer and
national franchiser of automotive parts and accessories, opened a new ValuGard
Processing Center here at 2060 S. Alex Road on Tuesday.

The company-owned ValuGard center will cater to automotive dealerships and
provide environmental protection services, such as paint sealant, undercoating,
fabric protector and anti-rust compound products, according to company spokesman
Sean Hayes.

More than 95 percent of existing ValuGard centers' revenues are generated from
dealerships, but the center also has independent customers, Hayes said.

The company would not release specific sales projections, but Hayes predicted
the Dayton ValuGard will be successful based on the past performances of other
ValuGard centers nearby.

Cincinnati's ValuGard center, for instance, processed more than 15,000 vehicles
for automotive dealerships and made over $1.5 million in revenue last year.

Hayes said the company's goal is to make Dayton's ValuGard at least half as
profitable as the Cincinnati center within the first 12 months.

The Dayton ValuGard already has "established relationships and orders from local
dealerships," according to the company.

Founded in 1993, Pick-Ups Plus currently operates six franchises and two
company-owned stores nationwide.

The Dayton ValuGard is part of Pick-Ups Plus' ongoing "aggressive expansion
strategy," according to the company. Hayes said plans are underway to open 200
more stores nationwide, including at least 10 in southern Ohio, within the next
four years.
