@JTA&I ... re: idea inspiration...

Of course no offense was intended to anyone, i was highlighting the sources of an idea.
Perhaps/Probably Chronicles brought Kurt Vonnegut to mind, and Rats and Collapse indicate the next logical steps for the coming fuel crisis/climate change/famine/pollution/social upheaval, etc- which historically brings plague and such - as these species often will proliferate and spin their habits showing great adaptability to changing conditions. Along with paying big bucks for a full tank of gas in the car, and seeing less traffic in the evening than previous years, riding along without media distraction and thinking about unsettling news i'd recently read on your Board, WR.
Certainly, the idea of a social program calling for volunteers and workers to rake the autumn leaves and transport them to fuel converting machines came from all of these sources, and more. Not that the idea is feasable - it probably isn't.
But The Source of Any Idea - so often comes from a coming together of many thoughts, resulting in further thoughts along those lines - which may or may not be practical to implement. Got no further thoughts on the matter for now & probably never will. I'm just good at the simplest stuff - art & design.
The links provided are good sources of information & ideas.

A certain frame of mind leads to art/invention works...
simultaneously complex & simple - as was well-drawn into the expression of the man in the picture - behind the confusion.
One thing missing - a notebook closeby, or better yet a tape recorder - so The Thinker doesn't forget what was Thought Of,
while In (Creative Thought Mode) The Zone of The Muse.
By however means The Zone was accessed -
dreams, booze, meditation, its a relaxed frame of mind. Oftentimes It Comes From Out Of Nowhere not always at a convenient time to record the thought/idea, other times It cannot be accessed no matter what, other times It's accessed at will easily, sometimes it's blocked at first and then comes through In Shining Colors.
However The Idea comes, it should be recorded quickly or it may be lost as other thoughts push it to the background,
only to be forgotten.
Solutions to Problems (as the gas-driven automobile once created a need and became a solution to many problems) often create another problem or need - forseen or unforseen.
We live in interesting times.
