Much has been made of not much. As I understand it, the report stated they quit research of making the mechanics of the bomb. This was in 2003, after we invaded Iraq. However they still preceded with making the nuclear materials, the more difficult and longest time line, at least if you have blue prints for a bomb. I suspect they have blue prints from a Pakistani bomb, therefore no further research needed till they have enough nuclear fuel.
