I don't think people are electable unless they tap into the ever-growing sense of entitlement in the US, and that argues against any kind of restraint. I think all the dangerous fiscal and political behavior will become apparent to the masses at nearly the same time, and the event that triggers that recognition will be in the index of the history books of our grandchildren.
