>>Iraq's neighbors are un-elected dictators who rule by force and who are using radical Islam and terror to attempt to destroy the modern world.<<

Does your view apply to Turkey (which borders the northwest part of Iraq)? You can be sure that any attack on Iraq would result in the Republican guard and Saddam placing ordinary civilians in harm's way purposely to gain propaganda value from the prospect of the U.S. killing innocent civilians. You can also be sure that the cowards in charge (we agree on this point) would find places to hide, just as Bin Laden did, thereby making it unlikely that the U.S. would be able to do anything more than neutralize the current leadership. That would be a reasonable result, but I think it can be done cheaper, and without placing civilians at risk through a more aggressive diplomatic process. My main concern is that the present administration does not have a mindset that would allow it to consider other reasonable, lower cost alternatives.

On the other hand, if I am looking for short term gains that might help QCOM, it is possible that communication in that area for any military force would be enhanced by using the Globalstar system. There is no guarantee that a U.S. military force would want to use Globalstar, but the fact that it is there and it works, and it is quite secure, might be attractive. I can't think of any other reason to risk an all out war, frankly, especially when other reasonable alternatives have not been given serious consideration.
