Sultan's suggestion of buying an upconverting DVD player and avoid buying High-Definition formats as an interm solution seems like a good idea to me. What bothers me the most about the current format war is the decisions by the studios to go exclusively with one format. That limits the consumer's choice if he buys a player for one of the formats. The current cost of dual High-Definition format players is higher than buying one of each of the High-Def formats. Few of us want to spend that much on DVD players.
