Unfortunately there has been a mind set developing that leads away from excellence and hard work. Many Asian students succeed very well in the USA because they are very driven both from their expectations of their parents and by their peers. It used to be that way for a much larger percent of Americans as well. Now the job market demands higher education and hard work more than ever, we see fewer on a path to succeed. There are far fewer decent paying jobs in manufacturing now then before. Many of these jobs are now high tech and underachievers wont get these jobs. The future sure seemed better when there were less materials in the house and one of the parents was watching the children much closer.
